Vijayan is a tea seller from Ernakulam in Kerala who has already visited 17 countries of the world along with his wife. The list also includes his dream destination – America.
He never complained about not having enough money or time to visit all those countries. He has been selling tea and snacks for last 40 years. As soon as he is able to collect some money, he would approach banks for a loan and then travel to a new country. Then, for the next two to three years period, he would repay the loan and this cycle goes on. This is how he has travelled to 17 countries and that too along with his wife.
A documentary titled “Invisible Wings” has been created on his life. This documentary film has been created by thirty years old Hari Mohanan.
“I met them in October 2013. Most of us complain about not having enough money and time, but here was a couple who had seen the world,” he says. “I wanted to explore that element and do a film. I want people to see the film and evoke their dreams and inspire them to achieve it. I also want to dub the film to regional languages in India and show it in villages so that the people outside the world of internet also watch it,” he added.
Now Vijayan and Mohana are planning to go to Russia. The peripatetic tea-seller is also a man of deep thought and wisdom and his story has been captured in this video.
“I got the obsession in traveling from my dad; he took me to different places since I was 6 year old. We went to Madurai, Palani and many other places. Those travel memories with my dad helped me unleash my dreams”, says Vijayan.
“I was really excited when we first travelled abroad. Belonging to a very poor family, I never dreamt of a life like this. Later along with him I too became obsessed with the journeys. Switzerland is my favorite among the places we visited”, Mohana (Vijayan’s wife) says.
“There will be many hurdles, but we can overcome that through hard work. If you really wish to chase your dreams, nothing can stop you from it,” Vijayan says.
